Idle control search MK3 - support requested

Postby BerlinTransit » Tue Jun 09, 2026 8:39 pm

Electronic idle control // Leerlaufregeler shot — no replacement found — photo attached.

We have diagnosed a high idle RPM to this piece, which we plus a local mechanic cannot find. The removed piece had no serial number, and other sites refer to idle controls with valves that aren’t a fit. Had anyone seen this before and know where a replacement could be found? Is it even original? Any help is appreciated.

My partner and I in Berlin bought a beautiful blue transit camper in 2024. 1989 MK3 - I believe 2.0 57kw version.

Mark,

This is very helpful and might be the solution. Any way to confirm the motor match? Here’s anything photo but maybe there’s more details on our model that could verify. Thanks again!

That pics no good for me .. its all up top -- no detail, not helpful.

Its what we call here a pinto engine .. if valve cover looks like so

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... NCsyNjQ%3D

Think just by ID-ing the component .. ive established its a 2.0 pinto with CFI injection, engine link known on that site as OHC TL LL

here's the main page

http://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l= ... NCsyNjQ%3D

The engine was common at the time, was in lots of cars before 1989 capri's, escort's, granada's, scorpio, cortina's, Taunus in Germany, sierra, most of these had carbs .. there were CFI single point versions, EFI multipoint versions and LPG.
