Keyless Entry ???

Well after snapping off the end of the key in the side door today i'm looking for keyless entry.

These locks arn't the original ford ones either but high security ones that have flat keys (front and back). Plus extra locks on the right of the sliding door and below the other one at the back. Not gonna brake into this bugger !!

WHERE do i find a kit that sorts me out with a keyless entry system ??? I noticed a van forsale by 'Jim H' has this but no other mention of it on the site.

The remotes look cheap but i'm going to also install a quality alarm/immob that'll contol the whole system from one blipper... like this one..

These kits are hard to fit on the side and back doors as they need special fixings, plus of course how do you run the wires to the side door?

Yeah i'd looked at that as it appears to be the only transit specific system on the pre-2000 transit. But at £135 seems expensive.



I think that Ford do one as i worked at Cowies ford dealer for a few years many moons ago (Arriva now) and still have a healthy discount there. But no doubt it'd still be mega expensive - like treble that above !!



Well reading through that transit specific system abacusalarms it looks a right pig to fit !!!! So knowing it couldn't get any worse and keeping this project in the budget section i've........





...just ordered (or am half way thlrough ordering) that cheaper system on ebay.



I'll be taking decent pics and will compile a 'how to' for others that may want to go the same route. This system makes no mention to requiring special fitment bits and bobs for side to side cable operated locks.



It'll be here next week (the locking system first then i'll invest in the alarm integration) so will be done soon. I've plenty of mechanic mates with plenty of owed favours that can help me if needed.

i bought one of the cheaper kits off ebay - havent fitted it yet! but mine has no sliding door (mk1)
we also got a set for my mates mk5 and i was going to fit a fiesta boot wiring prongs for the wires to the sliding door to enable it to lock - if you know what i mean!!!

unfortunatly smackheads have broken into his van and pinched the kit so we wont be fitting it for a while!!!

ps - would be good if you did us a how too for it! as prices have dropped for the rcl kits - now very affordable and a good upgrade!!!

OK how will you get the wires to the sliding door?
for the wiring on a fiesta mk3 boot ie the rear wiper there is no wires got to it the electricity gets there through contact prongs - have a look at one you will see what i mean!!

there may be other cars but the fiesta is one that springs to mind!!!

I know you did MrMPuk bud sorry. I didn't visualise the specific problem with the sliding door. I had completely overlooked that fact somehow and your question didn't register upstairs !!

I'm sure there is also something to do with the back door as well, something along the lines of you need a cyclinder that pushes rather than pulls I think.

Ahh.. well i think the only way around that will be when the back door is in bits and spread all over the drive and then work out a solution for the impending cock up !!
