Di pump change

Postby bortaf » Sat Jan 07, 2006 11:48 pm

Got another pump (chees Fred :) )
are there any difficultys i'm looking at with the change, appart from having to retime the pump?
injector matching ect, both engines are early big injector types.
TBH i usually just swap lumps but i've already done that and i aint doing it again
cheers

When I saw this post, I though oh dear, but it looks like it's OK, just asking for advice!! I think you will need the matching injectors, though I have noticed others on the forum saying don't bother!

Postby bortaf » Mon Jan 09, 2006 2:35 pm

Hello,

has anyone got a E reg diesel fuel pump that has a slot in it to accept the peg to lock the timing pump.

Thank you

Had to "modify" the front plate
the early ones it appears have a slot that sits over a peg to hold the pump in line with the bolt holes on the front case, the one i have doesn't so i removed the peg and it fitted :D

Now to the new question can i fit a banana Di from an L reg without to much hassle? i can't find an early Di in london or herts for love nor money but i've been offerd a soon to fail the MOT big style L reg compleat and running for £200
Are they ECU controlled? just don't want to get the dam thing back on the road with the least amount of work
