More Power

Hi all,

I've only just got a LWB 15-seat Minibus with a 2.0 Petrol engine with 72BHP (I think), its got the twin wheels on the rear axel.

I was wondering if there is anyway to get more power from it easily as I am planning on driving it across the Pyrineese Mountains and on to Spain.

I am also considering an engine & gearbox change that would be reletivley simple to do but give the bus more power and increase its cruising speed from 60 to about 80 mph and help it over the mountains.

if u have the single carb on it still put a twin carb and manifold from a sierra 2 litre will help.

Also the top speed will not be down to the engine unless its been governed(I doubt that very much), its more likely to have a low ratio diff.

Fit a free flow exhaust manifold should see around 10-12 Bhp also swap cam out for a something a little hotter anything from 10-20bhp plus twn webbers/dellortos should see another 10-15 Bhp if u do the whole lot u will need uprated bigend bolts ARP for around £80.

Very expensive tho' and you'd have to have a word with Burtons or Wonoff exhaust for a bespoke

I ran a full 1346cc steel xcross flow in the Wetfield with 138Bhp and reved @ 8900rpm!!

Remeber more Bhp means less mpg
