the engine in my old 130 lwb diesel bus/camper died suddenly saturday, on the A14. i got it towed to a friends house nearby & then spent 4 hours sunday towing the bus to my workshop & faffing about getting ready for an ifs conversion & new (to me) 65,000 2.5 di engine & gearbox transplant. (this was planned for over xmas but was put off due to lack of effort, cold weather & the fact it WAS still running)
Started to remove the engine today & loosen all the suspension etc. 3 hours in, after removing or CUTTING everything to get the engine out, i nudged the priming pump on the fuel filter & it MOVED!! BO££*%KS!!!!!!!! BLOODY THING HAD COME LOOSE & WAS SUCKING IN AIR. i thought the cam belt had snapped as it turned over very quickly, after it had died.
To make matters worse the garage (a friends workshop), i was booked into, had a car on the ramp all day waiting for a local motor factors to deliver a part. they manage to send the wrong bit 3 times. cant now get back on the ramp until the weekend.
All it would of took is a little bit of thought & 10 minute look under the bonnet
