wheezing on idle

when on idle the there seams to be a wheezing niose but if you slap ya foot on gas it goes away take ya foot of the gas its back again any idaes what it is lads

The wheezing could well be leaking EGR vacuum pipes - this causes a whistling or wheezing which is particularly evident when you take your foot off the accelerator. If you do seem to have a leak, try sealing it as best you can temporarily just to see if the noise goes by getting someone to hold the pipe on hard or block the leak by hand if you can. A tiny leak can cause a loud enough wheeze to be heard in the van while it's going.

If it is the brake servo pip the pedal will feel harder than usual.


EGR pipes are the most common though, they have a tendancy to split at the ends.

thanks everybody for all your help there was slits in the E G R pipe so ille sort it tomorrow it only started makeing that niose since i came back from inverness and its the first time ive been out in the van but it got there and back so thanks a lot anyway
