BT van colour match

Postby MXMAD » Sun Feb 08, 2009 3:25 pm

I have a 1993 transit owned by BT back in the day (blue / grey colour) and need the colour match for it :?:

Under the bonnet it says BT grey but halfords say there is no such colour :?:

Anyone know where i can get the colour match :?:

I took my ex BT and got the colour matched but it has faded so much and was not a good job to start with. ( If you stick masking tape to the original paint it lifts off with the Tape!)

The match is NOT good.

I have decided on a complete respray to a totally different colour.

It gets done later this month, I with post some before and after photos when it's finished.

Ford

Telecom Grey is purportedly ICI reference YV81, but some vehicles were delivered in Ford Telecom Grey (ICI reference BA79) which is a different shade.

but thats only if it was supplied by fords already painted a lot of bt vans were white from fords and painted in bt own workshops and depending on who mixed the paint at the time and batch numbers the paint does change a fair bit..

I have matched the paintwork of my 1996 exBT Transit van by mixing HAMMERITE white and silver metal paints. Start with 10% silver and keep adding incrementally until the perfect colour match for touch up is achieved.
