Couple of questions

Just a couple of quick questions....

Now i have a scorpio and wont be fixed..Now i have the red key for it still and my transit keys are well not the best..

How hard it is to swap all the locks and ignition barrel..Is it just a case of swapping them over or do i have to rewire it all??

and ive seen on here people putting a single seat on the passenger side is it a straight forward swap or is there some adjusting need to be done?

I wouldn't even bother with second hand locks, I think it will be more hastle than it's worth and that's if they fit! You can get a full lock set from Fords for £62 and you can normally get them cheaper from eBay.

As for the seat you can get a single seat base and try and fit a seat onto it or make your own frames up.

But you never said wether or not it is easy to change the locks?? Is it a case of just changing connections after you've fitted the locks or is a rewire??

Are you talking ignition or door locks?

Well it shouldn't involve any wiring as it's just the barrels you change.

The door locks in the front can be a pain to get to as the lock shields get in the way but once you've got them out it's not to bad and the ignition barrel just pops out but then you have to get the PATS reprogrammed to the key if you have PATS that is.

Oh right..Doesnt sound to bad then..Thought it would be a bigger job than that with the central locking and what have you

How do i find out if i have PATS or not..and if i dont have it .. its just a case of swapping the barrels

If i do have it where would be the best place to get it reprogrammed

If you have a smiley van then then it is likely you have PATS, if it has a red led in the dash or the roof lining then it has PATS. I think the only place that can do this will be Fords.

I think it is slightly harder with central locking but still fairly straight forward.

Well in that case then i do have it..as i have the flashing led in the dash..

Sorry to butt in But it may be possible to swap over the transponder in the key
I did this on my '96 smiley
Didn't know you could use granny locks though
The other thing I found was my drivers lock became very difficult to open But a newly cut key sorted it .
The keys must wear out

The locks from a Scorpio whether it is the Granada Scorpio or just the Scorpio (1995 - 1998) will not fit because they are different to the trannies locks, especially at the back where the actuator arm is, plus i believe the barrels will be a different length. The Scorpio also had much higher security surrounding the locks. It would easier to buy a set from Ebay and fit them. I bought a set from GBK on Ebay for £40 and fitted them all in about 2 hours, so why go to the bother of having to remove 2 sets of locks which are protected behind metal plates etc, especially when the Scorpio locks won't fit or work anyway.

Yeah 1 key is more of a round shape..and if i lose the other one im buggered ,About this PATS thing..Will it still drive or would i need someone to come out to reprogramme it??

Drive it to the ford dealer by removing the transponder from around the ignition barrel and tape the old key to it.

Or you could just cut the metal part of the key of and keep the plastic bit with the transponder in on your keyring so everytime you go to start the van the PATS will pick up the signal from the plastic bit on your keyring.

I dont have a transponder in my key..Its just a plain key
