Rear Door Spare location ???

Anyone ever fitted the spare to the rear door ? Does this cause problems with the hinge with the extra weight or what ? I am looking to relocate the spare and fit a spare wheel cover with advertising to it... Anyone any suggestions ? (Ex BT Grey 120 SWb)

Thats why you own a Transit...so you can be creative . I'm doing something similar to my van when I get all the welding done to the floor areas. My idea is to use two squares of plate 1/4 - 3/8ths thick, drill three holes through both plates [to match the hole pattern of the wheel] and the door to accept hefty bolts, then bolt the plates to the door. Big washers will stop the wheel from overriding the nuts and provide ventilation for the wheel . . use nyloc nuts on the outside to stop vibration shaking them off. Only trouble is . . I've seen the local kids getting a ride on the back of almost anything with a spare wheel mounted on the back door simply by trying to hold on to the spare wheel. Funny as hell though when the driver realises whats going on and brakes sharply
