92 swb transit

Postby eddie01 » Thu Apr 27, 2006 9:27 pm

I have owned a 92 Transit swb for 18 months and until recently it has been great, but it has now developed a few faults that perhaps other members could perhaps help me with!

It runs really badly, especially when cold, and sometimes struggles to tick over when it is warm. When I rev the engine I get a lot of black smoke.

Underneath the "banana" manifold there is a small black cylinder with pipes going in and out of it, is this an integral part of the van as mine is broken, I have lashed it together but dont know what it is called to order a new one.

My back axle(I think) is horribly noisy when cold, is this normal for an older van?

My fuel filter wont let me release the moisture from the bottom, is this normal or do i have to get a new one?

There are other small niggles but this will do to be going on with, I greatly appreciate any help you guys can help me with
Until recently this was a great reliable work horse so i would like to fix these problems if at all possible

THANKYOU

back axles usually whine  they can last for 1000's of miles before going usually out last the van

fuel filter drain should just unscrew and drain :? try putting a new filter on it wont do any harm :D

also check the prop support bearings they can be a source of noise :?
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.
