The compressor would be fitted exactly like that on any Di/TDI MK5 with the air con. option :)

So just to confirm, it is a mk5 stock (cabin) aircon compressor I need?

Well I'm no specialist :!: Therefore can't confirm if the stock aircon. compressor will refrigerate what you want :!:
 Perhaps consult one of the fridge converting companies :?: But judging how cold my cabin can get on a hot day, It could well be what you want :!: :D

nope, it's a much more powerful compressor....

it's not really something you can do yourself, it needs to be a sealed system, a pinhead of moisture inside any of the pipes and it will kill the system... (freezes and blocks it)

iirc, a 'pro' conversion is in the region of £3500

i got a hubbard freezer unit off a scrapper for one of mine a few years back for £600 the van it came from had done 7000 miles it was a bit squashed but worked fine if you make a bracket to fit the pump make sure there is plenty of belt going round the pump pulley  you can buy a bracket from hubbard for about £200 though

the thing was though, i fitted the condenser and evaporator and pump and electrics but had to get a fridgeman to gas it up there was a slight leak from a reversing valve that i had fitted he didnt like the pipes i had extended (it was a freezer from a ldv cub and i put it on a mk5 chassis cab with a big stainless box ) didnt like my pump bracket but had a secondhand one he put new aircon pipes on took of my 60 quids worth of new reversing valve as it wasnt going to be used as a freezer didnt need it apparently. dried it out gassed it up 600 quid later it was a good un :( i think the refrigerant was about £150 of that and when i took it off the ldv i just took a pipe off and let it go. i found it very difficult to find any how to information but you never know till you have a go. if you do find a scrappy one its something to bear in mind and get one with a standby 8) 8)
