Mk3 Transit Speedo Pics

Postby mr.blitz » Tue Dec 01, 2009 4:07 pm

I have a Tacho in my Mk3 Transit.

I think it may have originally have been fitted with a speedo and replaced with a tacho.

Mine has the temp and fuel gauges on the left, warning lights on the right, and a big square hole in the middle with the tacho showing four bolts at its four corners.

Does this sound like a speedo cluster with a tacho put in?

Anyone got any pictures of a Mk3 speedo cluster so i can compare?

Ta...

Ok...can anyone tell me whats going on with my transit!!

I have a tacho but it does not work...i have looked at pictures of mk3 tacho clusters and speedo clusters and none of them look like mine!!!

I have the fuel and temp gauges on the left...the tacho is in the middle, and the warning lights are in two strips running top to bottom on teh right.

Is tis a speedo setup with the speedo removed abd tacho put in its place?

I have no clear plastic cover over that displays, they are under their own covers...finally, in front of the hazard button there is a 3-4inch wide square gap...is this where the cover used to clip on?

Can anyone who reads this describe their cluster so i can compare it with mine.

Thanks,

right

The tachograph unit with guages and bulbs etc is totally different from the standard clocks, you cant mix and match bits between them. However with a speedo cable you can fit the non tachograph assembly including all the guages etc.

Show us a pic of yours and we might be able to advise! I guess its possible yours has an aftermarket tachograph?

tachographs dont tend to have speedo cables mark. Im not sure about the earlier ones but my N reg definately had an electronic sender!

You must be right cause my N reg smiley is cable driven

How about the speed sensor or how about just converting the whole lot back to a normla speedo setup

i will quite happily convert back to a normal speedo...but i can't find one!!

tried 'parts gateway' and another such site, but no luck.

this is why i'm considering trying to put that tacho in...i will check what my connection is tomorrow morning.

The one on ebay seems to be cable driven...it says it has a speedo adapter...for plugging into a speedo speed sensor?

How easy is it to mod a mondeo speedo cluster? They are ten a penny...and will do the job just as well...is it a nightmare to sort out?

Matt...you seem to be an authority on this subject...what you fink?

have you tried local scrappys if you got mk3 you would have to go back to cable driven anyway

I would imagine it can't be that hard to convert back

That one on ebay has an electronic sender ;)

Mk3/4 speedo assy's are the same and will fit, but it looks like you would need a surround and cable to.

I have seen tachographs like the one you linked to on a mk4 so I think it should fit...

Whereabouts are you?
