Changing brake disc

Postby msjandu » Mon Dec 07, 2009 10:28 am

Hi, can anyone out there help. I've got a 1996 smiley face Transit 100 2.5 non turbo SWB. The front discs are worn. However, when I came to change them, I couldn't separate the disc from the Hub. The five nuts that hold the disc onto the hub were undone. Does the hub have to be drifted away from the disc? Any help or how to instructions would be very much appreciated.

- sorted it. Did need reasonable force in the end, but it did come free. Thanks to each!

Take out 3 of the wheelnut studs, using a soft face mallet.Find a long nut and bolt with thread all the way up.
Put the bolt through the stud hole, place the nut on the end so that you have got the bolt head on the stud side of the hub
and the nut on the disc side.
With the end of the bolt against the disc take the nut up the bolt until it is against the hub ,hold it with a spanner and then turn the bolt head with another spanner. The bolt will push against the disc freeing it from the hub.Once the disc starts to go move on to the next hole and then the last one.
