Bosch fuel line connectors

Postby Jim Archer » Sat Dec 12, 2009 12:58 pm

Anyone know if you can change the seals in the Bosch push fit fuel line connectors?

I've got one that is leaking (lift pump) when it gets cold and letting air in - not what you want of a cold morning.

This must be a fairly common issue.

Failing that, will the earlier Lucas compression fittings match the Bosch pump threads?

Ah yes, might help. '97 2.5 DI non turbo, with Bosch pump.

One of the fittings leaks air as it'll start fine but misfire on 1 cylinder after approx 1mile, and is worse if you have to rev it a bit. Once over that bit it's fine.

I've got a Lucas pump with all it's feed pipes and fittings on another motor, and I solved the same problem by nipping the pipe fittings a wee bit.

I'm guessing it's the seal(s) in the push fit connector that's leaking when cold - guess the O-ring(?) has gone hard.

Checked the pipe ends and don't think they are the problem as they're clean and unmarked.

Nope, plastic fuel lines from tank, via lift pump and fuel filter housing.

One of the buggers leaks back overnight when cold, and I'm loath to put sealer on them in case I need to disconnect at any time.

I did too, dont use cheap rubber hose to join tho as i found that eventually the diesel attacked the rubber, made it swell and eventually rot away! This meant that i came out one day and started van and covered drive in diesel
