Rear Door Weight

Postby d4funky1 » Mon May 08, 2006 3:43 pm

Hi,

Does anyone know the weight of the rear doors on a transit (low roof)?

I've seen a couple for sale but there 200 miles away!!!

Trying to work out a courier charge.

Many Thanks

i have a mk2 door i can weigh if no one else helps you out, it will give you a ballpark figure to work with, for collection and delivery i tend to use this lot :)

http://www.parceluk.co.uk/index.php

just had a mk2 front door collected/delivered for about £30 that was weighed up and declared at 30kgs

have a play with their online size/price thing

i do mail order a lot,and from my experience if you havent an account with someone and use it regular, with these items they will do what they call "cube it" because of the size and its low weight i dont know how they work it out but they will probably cube a door to about 50kg, then charge accordingly, probably be cheeper to go to a ford dealer and buy new doors

yes they do something like that dependant on sizes then they work by weight, but the good thinga about that site i use, is distance is not considered, and if you can get them to collect from business and deliver to business addresses then its cheaper still

i just did (in cm's) 200x20x100 at 50kg and as geoff said they "cube'd" it at 67kg, that was a guestimate at the 2 doors packed together and it came to £42 and some change, so worth getting your seller to tell you dimensions of both wrapped together and and then weighed that way you can get a more acurate figure, because the sizes are important and can save you some dosh
