Aux light

To the right of steering wheel to the left of headlamp hight adjustment i have a aux warning light and it is shining brightly have not got a clue what its for ,Its an ex NHS minibus 150 Kombi high top lwb w reg with wheelchair lift and electric sidestep .Think it may be something to do with extra battery state of charge but thats a bit of a guess ,both batteries appear to be ok and chair lift and sidestep are working .Any ideas ?

Without knowing how the van was customised for the NHS, all one can do is guess unless you want to strip the dash and start tracing cables.....

Not a standard thing, I think you might have to trace the wires...

Just wondering of what it could possibly be for .Hence the guess at battery cond ,it started out faintish and got brighter then faded a touch over an hour or so but now shines brightly whilst parked up everything turned off .

Normally any hydraulic gear such as a tail lift etc. would have a warning light and switch so the unit can be switced off and cannot work when the vehicle is being driven. If you don't have a switch on the dash it is just possible it is where the lift controls are and the light is to remind the driver that the system is active.
If not, as already suggested..... follow the wires.

Cheers for that .It is only a warning light no switch attached .The tail lift and sidestep work constantly no on off switch just the buttons to operate .Whilst light has been shining red and it is bright it has a lens about an inch across the sidestep has always worked but tail lift is intemittent but may be due to being frozen .I still think warning light may be linked with the second battery that the tail lift takes its power from but i have connected my fully charged power pack to battery expecting warning light to go out but it didn't.Xmas and all that its going to be difficult to get into my auto electrician .

I suppose the light is not a switch as well..................... Does it push, pull or turn?

The red light may be attached to one of the pieces of equipment - to say it's not properly stowed away? Often, these sensors fail, indicating that the item is not locked, when it is (we often have this problem with side steps on lorries). See if there are any obvious sensors. Also, if you have equipment in there you don't intend to use or whatever, consider taking it out - less to go wrong, and also less weight to be pulling around all the time.

No its not a switch definitely just a warning light ,you got me thinking on the non stowage though ,sidestep or tail lift - strangely i had the tail lift serviced the day before the light started glowing and the chap seemed a bit lax ,stillcost me £70 for less than !/2 an hour .Going to have to try and get into auto electric man over xmas and get him to trace it and at the same time see if he can wire in a buzzer for indicators because they dont self cancel and i am forever leaving them on,the flashing green on dash is obscured by steering wheel .Where can i get a buzzer ? or maybe he can wire into reversing bleeper unless anyone has got any other suggestions.

You can repair the self cancel on the indicators by replacing the plastic cam on the steering column. Stick a bit of black tape over the light till you get it sorted, stop it distracting you as you drive

Plastic cam ? .Is it a ford part and is it easy to fit ,i always thought it was probably a part of the indicator arm that was at fault .Been telling my mechanic to sort it whatever it takes for over 12 months ,Are all mechanics brain dead ?.

Well mechanic picking minibus up in the morning for yet more routine maintenance .Try and trace Aux light on reason.- New (Ford ) clutch cable £33 - new Oil and filter (oil cost me nearly £19 per 5 litres Carlube triple R semi synth 15-40) replace ignition barrel new Ford part set up so it accepts the keys i now use £28 - + a general strip and check and adjust brakes etc and an overall check of underside and joints.

Got told 5.30 too thin.

5w30 semi is the correct oil.
