Engine Change

Has anybody tried to fit a different engine to their transit mk5?

I have a 2.5d 1997 minibus.

It has crap fuel economy, crap top speed, smokes the entire world out when your accelerating and is generaly gutless.
I think the pistons or barrells are nakered cos ive tried everything else.

So i need an engine change. Has anybody ever had a different engine put in to replace the current one?

Loads of ppl have done engine transplants, do a search of this forum and you'll find more info on it than you can shake a stick at...

Another Di would be the simplest and cheapest option, but virtually anything will go in if you're determined.

whilst the Di may not be the fastest thing on earth, they don't normally smoke, and mine does over 30mpg all the time

have you think that is possible increased your engine with used lpg mix with gasoline. in your state installation total component. contact if you party linley tech . i've climbed on my engine 2,5 td 100hp and my engine have more speed.hi

Turnes out in the case of my van, i took it to ford who said it was my injectors/pump.
the "hush hush" recommended a garage down the road and i took it there.
It was like a new bloody van afterwards! Im so happy.
£120 i got it all fixed and they spotlessly cleaned my van outside as well!

Turns out, the previous owner had changed the injectors and left 2 washers from the previous injectors on the engine so the injectors were too high up.

one question though...
Does anybody else who has the 1997 banana engine 2.5d notice that their engine is quite noisey? Mine sounds a little tappety..
Has anybody ever had to adjust theirs?

I adjust the clearances regularly in accordance with the service interval, but the DI always sounds like a rattly bag of broken spanners.

Aye, you want to drive one with a Lucas CAV pump and top of manifold airfilter box if you think yours is noisy
