Engine Swap 1994 -> 1997 Supprises?

Postby sideshow_bill » Sat Jan 02, 2010 6:24 pm

Hi there, I am just about to swap my tired 1994 2.5 Di lump for a 1997 one.

I have just noticed that the engine mountings are difrent, I assume this means I use the old ones as they new ones dont seem to be the right angle to mate up with the cross member. Is this the case? I would rather use the later mounts if possible.

Are there any other difrences I should know about?

I have the later gearbox but as the 'box fitted is in good condition I would perfer to continue using it, if there are no compatibility issues.

Thanks :)

you need to use the mounts from the old engine :D

you could fit the new mounts but you'd need the chassis parts and the dont bolt strait on - best to keep the full mk4 mounts :D
