Lowering MK3

How have you guys lowered you're mk3 transits? Blocks and shorter springs is obvious, but what springs for the front? Is it just a case of getting the grinder and oxy acetaline torch out? Any examples of different ride heights about so I can see a pic? The van is never going to carry anything heavier than my little 350cc motorbike, so I doubt scrubbing would be an issue on standard wheels anyway. Cheers for you're comments, or a push in the direction of threads already cover it (I couldn't find any after 30mins of searching, so gave up!).

blocks wont lower it like they do on escorts cos the axle is the other side of the springs

decambered rear springs or lower ones made from scratch for the back

for the front i cut a coil off mine, 1st one i cut 2 coils off and it was too much about 5-6" off the floor and i value my front spoiler

Fair enough, I was doing the stuff on the front for the MOT the other day but got my mate to change a shock bush on the back so didnt get a close look. Can you buy de-cambered springs or is it a case of getting them done? Any ideas how much it costs? Could you just weld some mountings on the underside of the axle and fit the original spring underneath, might have to get the mig out!

bez (on here) bought some new lowered rear ones from owen springs in rotherham i think they were £85 a pair seemed a good price

I've got to get my mk1 fiesta all welded up and out the workshop, once that's done i'll see about mounting the springs on the wrong side of the axle! hmmm.

when i looked into putting axle on top of the springs, i came to the conclusion that there would not be enough room for suspension travel as the top of the axle would be very close to the chassis rail
other idea is to decamber the springs,i got a quote of £90 i think to do mine but i sort of gone off the idea at the moment.
i did lower the front just chopped 1 coil off the springs
