transit wont start

had my van broken into this week. in the process they have broken the key receiver around the ignition. i still have the original key but when placed in the ignition i just get the red light flashing quickly to say its not reading key.. would it be possible to just replace the receiver or are they matched to the key.. Its an R reg 2ltr petrol/gas and the receiver has the 4 pin green plug in the side of the square box part.... Any help appreciated...

Hi Dave,

Sorry to hear about your break in.
You can just replace the transponder ring, it has a plug on it.
it's not the decoding part of the system. just the reader/messenger.

I believe there are 2 types though, go down the breakers and find one with the same colour/number of wires coming out

the ring has 4 pins in the side which a green plug connects to.... can i use any that have the same type of plug connector.... the numbers on it are as follows.

97VP-15607-AA UOB 83537

Do i have to find one with the same numbers on...
