Can you help?

Postby beasty23 » Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:37 pm

I have read what Luke has written and hopefully i have put this thread in the right section.

I have a 99 swb transit, 2.5 diesel engine with no turbo.

Problem,

Last year i was driving locally, when my van started losing power and became hard to accelerate with a sort of ' im going to die on you in a minute' noise and when slowing to a junction would start juddering.

I managed to get home and popped over the road to a neighbour who knows a little about mechanics and asked him to have a look. He revved the hell out of it, and managed to get the van back to its original idle ticking and everything was fine from then on. He told me that the injectors maybe blocked, and said that i should get the fuel filter changed and have an oil change straight away, then get the injectors sorted.

I did the oil change and fuel filter change, but at the time never had the money to get the injectors changed. A couple of months ago the same problem occurred, but i was on the motorway so pulled up revved it and it cleared.

Problem put to the back off my mind, until..

Last night coming of the slip way to go home the problem arose again, this time i managed to nurse it home as i don't live that far from the motorway, parked up and thought i'll sort it out this morning.

I go to start the van this morning, i'm managing to turn it over but the engine is not firing thus i'm now stuck.

Can anybody here help diagnose the problem or is it what i have been previously told.

Many thanks

Russ.

Sounds like you need to bleed the injectors. If that clears it then carry out the leak off pipe mod that is described on here, you should find it if you do a search.

No you don't need it to be running. Hopefully bleeding the engine will get it running though.
