There's about 8 different exhausts for a t reg.

No, not straight off, but a bit of judicious cutting and welding gets it somewhere near.

Make sure you hang it carefully and securely as it hasn't got the flexi section behind the gearbox - easily added, if a bit time consuming - and the clamp plate under the rear gearbox mount needs a bit of work to stop the manifold joint studs breaking. You'll most liely need to move some of the hanging hooks, but all the bolt holes are there.

Mines a right mixture of MK4 front pipe (got a fair bit bigger bore than any others I've seen) and 2 turbo silencers (straight through rather than baffled). I put a flexi section in between the flange and silencer box of 1st silencer.

Depends on whether SWB, LWB, rear exit or side exit.....

To all intents and purposes, on the 2.5 Di Banana NON TURBO engine, the front section up to the flexi joint & first silencer is the same regardless of the engine's BHP. It's the second box backwards that differs according to model year. Although there are some very early MK3 Di's that don't have a flexi joint.

There are several variations through MK3 - MK5 from second box backwards.

2 side exit options for chassis cabs / pick ups / tippers
2 rear exit options for SWB panel vans (year dependant, first option up to end 1996, second 1997 onwards)
2 rear exit options for LWB panel vans (year dependant, first option up to end 1996, second 1997 onwards)

The only differences in the SWB and LWB variants from what I have seen are the hanging brackets and the length of the crook over the rear axle. I guess you could fit an earlier rear section to a later van but don't quote me on it.

Other differences occur if you have the very basic 70ps non banana diesel, turbo diesel engines or petrol engines.


If we know the engines of the vans you refer to, it will be easier to tell you what will fit.

cheers the L reg is a 1994 2.5 di 80ps LWB and the T reg is a 1999 2.5 di 76ps lwb

im sure the 76 ps has a double pipe from manifold down,where as the 70 ps has a single pipe down to box....just that somone above said they are the same

The banana engine uses both single (Ask Trigger) and twin (ask Nada) downpipes, depending on model and year

I did say the 70ps was different

Should fit then with a bit of modding to the hangers. You may need to lengthen or shorten the rear one depending on whether or not you have the same suspension (ie; high centre of gravity as opposed to standard)

But does the donor? If it does it should be pretty much a straight swap. If not, you will need to fiddle with the hanger.
