Ply Lining

Hi All

Does anyone know where i can get or anyone has any templates for the back of a SWB transit mk5 so i can ply the back out when its been resprayed

would be good if someone has all the measurements on a drawing we can scan and have in usefull information!!!

i was lucky when i bought mine it was half ply lined and i took the top half out of a van i was scrapping!!

ive also scrapped a few vans that were fully plylined - i would have given it away

Had to make mine from scratch
Took me ages
And I knew that if I didn't do the wheel arches and started using it for work they'll never get done

yeah the 1st one was my mk3 bonus - the ply lining was mint - obviously a proffesional job, all ally cappings on the edges too!! i'd have kept it but same old story - keeping it someware, so it went in the crusher with the van

Take it no one else has found the measurements then..Been looking myself but to no avail

its gona be a hard one mate most of the firms that do the ply would only have the later meshurements,but you could try you local ford dealer and ask who does the ply for them and then give them a ring you never know!

It may be just me but the sizes aren't hidden away afterall you have a van to measure yourself so why don't you do that and then write the results down, of course different body lengths will be different but that is the limit to it. SDL is standard throughout the model range, rear door bottom sections the same from the MK3 to MK5. If you are trying to cover the inside of the doors entirely, again other than differing rear door heights it will be standard throught the range. Getting a paper template is what you sound to be after, well make your own and then sell them on ebay, but to be fair you need to get access to the other models as you can guarantee that the template you offer will not be the one wanted by the buyer.
There was a guy on ebay selling his templates biz complete with all the models he fitted but they were simply the end pieces together with the length sizes (or so it appeared from the pics he posted) it has been listed at least twice together with a price drop.

You can always find vans when we meet and I'm sure none of us will object to you and your tape measure

BTW They all vary
If I was doing mine again I'd panel out to waste line then cut out panels to fit in the "window" bits

If the floor is cut out carefully (2 pieces lengthwise) you don't need any screws
And if you don't cut out the step, you end up with an extra storage secton

Yeah i'll give it a go when i get a bit of time..Now its earned its money im just giving it a few treats new engine,respray and tart it up a bit on the inside

Well its a decent solid van..Its just that the engines been knocking for the last 50k..So rather than scraping it i thought bugger it it'll be cheaper to do it up..As otherwise it'd be one less transit on the road
