diesel to pinto

Postby wole » Mon Feb 15, 2010 10:45 am

hi all i have a 1998 mk5 diesel camper van so due to the emmsion rules that will be coming not too far off. i am going to fit a 1993 2 litre transit pinto. engine code nba. the mechanical part is no problem to me. my question is will the petrol engine wiring loom fit onto the camper loom. or should i get a distributor with points and a standard weber carb. thanks dave

The emission regs won't apply because of the age of your vehicle.

IIRC, the 2.0l Pinto kicks out more crap than the Di anyway....

Rover is the man to speak to about this...

Im guessing you have an EFI pinto then? I believe the wiring can be adapted and you will need to bypass the immobiliser (which would only affect the starter motor). If you can find the engine loom for a mk4 petrol transit it may just be plug and play

Sounds like the servo controlled tickover?? dump all that and get an older dgv weber, though you may need a simpler ignition/dizzy setup off an older sierra, less wires, easier to plumb in.
