SMILEY FACE STARTS UNEVENLY

Postby the gurns » Thu Feb 18, 2010 11:13 am

Hi guys, got a problem with our 96 smiley face, when its started from cold it doesn't run smooth for the first few secounds,as if a plug was breaking down (if it was petrol!) but its a 2.5 di so not that, its not as bad as it was (just had the cambelt changed) but it smokes for a few minutes after start up too, when its warm its fine all day. any thoughts??

check pump timing (advance it a bit), injector dodgy, air in fuel, and set valve timeing up and blank egr and tie strap open intake butter fly. (the rod from pump to inlet manifold)

I tied the egr valve open but haven't taken any of the small pipes off,I noticed that the intake pipe (the big one) onto the egr is split and perished (allowing air in?) I gaffer taped it up for now but will change it when I find out where to get one (main dealer?) The van seems to run better with the valve open and picks up better in the gears.
Any comments?
