creaking front suspension or shockers.

Postby vanfox » Thu Feb 18, 2010 1:55 pm

MOT time and the Mk 5 Smiley Di steering has started to creak. Had it on the jack, checked the bottom ball joints etc, the creak appears to emanate from the top half of the shocker, both sides. Hold the lower half and can't feel anything, hold the upper shroud and you can plainly feel the creak. Shockers don't appear to be leaking.

Any ideas?

May be worn shocks, may not be.

Have you checked the condition of the coil springs? Mine creaked on the N/S when turning. It was due to a fractured srping.

had the same problem with mine after doing the steering gaitor, attacked it with wd40, and seems to have quietend down. If it comes back, may just have to upgrade the cd player!
