Postby white transit man » Tue Feb 23, 2010 8:53 pm

hello ive got a 98 transit with an earlier engine in it (ive been told ??) it has a cold start that looks like a sausage with a wire going through it. i know nothing about engines thus why im on here. i need to know how to wire it up to test that it works if not ill get another one. there is one wire coming off the back of the cold start and i dont know where it goes or what other wires need to go where (if any) if any body can help can you please explain it as if you are explaining it to a ten year old thanks :?

Personally I woul just attach a choke cable to the little lever coming out of the side of the injectio pump that the wire from the sausagey thing goes to

Don`t think the choke cable idea would work ? there`s a hell of a lot of tension on the lever
Just try pushing it back !
When engine is running pump pushes against it,you can feel mechanism in pump pulsing.
If you let too much tension off lever or let it release too far,van runs crap & white smokes as the lever affects pump timing.
Best to fix original system, when working they are a great set-up :)
