Bad news

Postby djc151084 » Mon Mar 01, 2010 8:06 pm

The vans been in the garage today to see the condition of the underneath, and the guy has told me that i would be best to get rid of the van unless i know some one who can weld fairly cheap, it needs a lot of welding underneath, and as i do not know any welders i am going to have to let the van go :( same really as the van is a good van , sad to see it go, but i will learn from my mistakes and will check my next van more thourugh priar to buying it, how much could i get if i weigh the van in does anybody know ihow much i should be expekting

thanks

You will make a lot more money back stripping it for parts.

Weigh in as it is, you might get £150. Strip it for parts and you can easily double that. If the engine and box are good, you should get at least £200 for them alone :D

Don't you dare scrap it

Body work is ok as far as Tranny's go, would make a lovely day van project :D The worst it could need is a new floor and some work on the box sections, surely?

it needs the rear crossmember welded right across, bit of welding by 1 sill, about a 3cm by 4cm hole in the floor under the ply floor, and a bit under the bonnet where the passinger side spring mounts too opposite side to the battery tray , and mite need a few other small bits, the worst part iv been told is the rear crossmember.

That sound like the normal transit welding list

if you look at http://fordtransit.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=24006&start=30
