changing 6 stud diff

ok ive had a good look on the search on here but cant find the answer whats actually involved in changing the diff on a 6 stud axle?i know its easier to change the axle but curiouse.

from what i have previously read here, it is not an easy job to set a diff up properly, so changing the axle would be far easier
