Mk 5 Heater Resister Pack Bypass

Postby tonentrace » Thu Mar 04, 2010 11:08 pm

I'm trying to fix a fault on my neighbours Mk5 Transit. His heater blower has packed in, the terminals on the resister pack are shot. Can someone please give me a clue as to somewhere I might get a replacement cheaper then the £40 odd Ford want for a new one.

My other option if possible is to take the resister pack out all together and bridge the wire's so that the fan works on speed 3. Is this possible?? Any information will be of great help.

Speed 3 (fastest) bypasses the resister :!:
Sounds like either a fuse, the switch and or the motor has packed up :!:

The connector is the same as a headlight one... and you can get the resistors for about £15 on ebay ;)

Thanks guys for the info, he only wants a cheap fix fow now as he never realy goes anywhere than local so the heater never gets chance to warm up, it's more for just keeping his screen from misting up so going to replace the switch as with what has been said, that will be the main problem. So long as he has speed 3 he will be happy.

Thanks again guys.
