1991 SWB 2.0L Petrol to 2.5L Diesel Conversion

Postby cactusjack » Wed May 31, 2006 6:31 pm

Hi

I have recently purchased a 1991 SWB Transit.
At some time in its past, the vehicle has had the orignial 2.0 L Petrol Engine replaced with a 2.5 L Diesel unit.

I am trying to get the documetnation in order for the vehicle.

My insurance company have asked me to find out what the BHP ratings for each of the different engine types was / is.

(I have some data that suggests the 2.0 Petrol is 115 BHP and the 2.5 L Diesel is 76 BHP but I have no idea if this is true.)

Does anyone know what the likely power rating for these two engines will be?

Suprisingly, there is little information on the web for the older vans.
I could buy the two manuals but, this would proably cost me more than the van did.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chris H

You will have to look up the numbers on the block at the front to get the power rating for your engine, the list is on here somewhere but within another thread so the search facility wouldn't help you. Also the body type (weight rating) again won't help since you know you have had an engine swap.

From memory they (diesel) are...I am sure there are a couple more in there too, Turbo or not cuts down the list as well.

70
76
85
100
115

but again number on the block dependant.
