I don't think the lens protectors will alter the beam pattern anyway.
Park your van about 3 metres from a wall or garage door and switch on the dip headlights. Cover one lamp up as it is easier to do one at a time. At the top left of the light patern is a section sloping upwards and to the left and this needs to be blanked off to give a level top to the beam. Move your hand around on the headlamp glass to find the area that cuts off the upward triangle of light and then use a piece of black tape to fine tune your "converter". Repeat for the other light. Don't expect the second "converter" to be the same shape or in the same place as the first.
