Tow In Tow Out Mk5 - also has anyone TIS Transit Code

Hi just tweeking my tracking, as there was very fast wear on the new set of tyres I have put on ( inside) I did the string line thing back to front, and found it was miles out (towd out about 1.5cm) and so now have put it close to straight through but feels a bit 'sqishy' on the steering, but I seem to remember on my TIS Tranny Disc, that it should be about 0.5 to1cm towed in, but went to check my disc, and couldnt use it, as i have recently had a virus on my pc, and had everything wiped off, and when i bought the disc, (ebay of course) I was sent a code to activate the disc- which is also now wiped, and cant remember the guy i bought it from. If its not an easy fix, I shall just buy another, but if someone knows an easy way to re-activate my cd, i would appreciate it

As a rule of thumb, a RWD vehicle should have "Toe In" and a FWD should have "Toe Out" and it's never very much.
A vehicle with too much toe-in will wear the outside of the tyres, whereas too much toe-out will wear the insides

Yep Thanks Al, its about waht I guessed, soemone has put all new sterring arms/joints etc in, and forgot to make adjustments- think i will give it about 5-10mm toe in over the weekend- did notice also, that the rear wheel train is a bit out too, just about to start a mobile home conversion

Hi Frag- are you sure about the tolerence's, as 1mm is about the thickness of a credit card- and would be barley noticable-even thin string is about 2mm thick, cant see it being that- but dont mind being put right, as i have this dead in line straight at the moment, it should be ok- I should have thought 2-3mm more like it, might google it, got to be something out there- cheers dave
