Engine Management Light

Postby rence » Fri Mar 19, 2010 3:14 pm

I have recently fitted a new cambelt & tensioner to my 2000 campervan (smiley face type) allso I reset the valve clearances. Since then the engine management light comes on intermitently. The engine runs perfectly with no smoke or strange noises. It has had a diagnostic check which gives the fault codes P1174 AND P1176. This refers to a cam sensor fault but there is no cam sensor on this engine. HELP PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

It was a friend and I don,t know what machine it was. If it wasn,t for the light coming on I would not think anything was wrong as it is runnig so well at all speeds.

Was the cambelt put on using the correct pins or was it done by lining up marks? The EPIC system fitted to smiley turbos is very pickiy about the timing

It was done with correct pins the second time but not the first. I am 100% sure the timing is spot on.
