Engine problem

Just wondering if anyone knew what this could be on my DOHC petrol engine

I drove to birmingham loaded all fine this morning then on the way back doing about 80 it would sort of jerk every now and then(The sort of jerk you get when your running out of fuel) and it seemed to use alot more fuel coming back even though it was empty??

Any ideas would be good

i had a problem on my sierra same engine - it was the plugs causing it to miss occasionally worth a try cos if it aint that you have a new set of plugs in
also when you say it used more fuel on the wya back the transit gauge isnt equal - the top half is almost twice the bottom half in real terms

Oh right..But i normally can gauge how much fuel i'll use going to birmingham and back and it seems to have used a bit more than normal..

As for the plugs i would of thought they were new and i only had a new engine last week..just got it back from having a new crank sensor on it and having a new speedo module as it didnt work..So most if not all the engine should be new now

Oh right..But i normally can gauge how much fuel i'll use going to birmingham and back and it seems to have used a bit more than normal..

all tanks are 68 litres - if you get it to half way then fill it to the brim you'll see how far out yours is

basically i'd have a check round the engine all the usuall suspects plugs, leads dissy cap- anything suspect swap it
i wouldnt assume it's had new plugs unless you know for certain they should look new

Yeah true..I may run it for another day or two..As its been ok for the last week..Just to see if it runs it in or out if its sh*t somewhere

May have a check out tomorrow now i know its cooled down burnt my bloody hand earlier

Mate does your engine have injection or is it carbed ????

Only asking cause i had a similar thing happen and mine is injection, so i did the usual checks, plugs n leads etc....but all was ok there so stuck some inj-cleaner in the tank and it was sound after a couple of miles, just a thought

Well it looks like they've reused the injection off my old engine so they might be a little blocked,although it didnt do it before on the old engine..But to try it out i'll stick some redex stuff in

Still needs running in only done a couple of hundred miles so far..

Found out the problem tonight..Was fine going to Wigan then as soon as i went to go to Birmingham it started again,then stopped then a while later started again..Only seemed to do it on high revs in 4th and 5th..

Was doing my fruit in .. So i put up with it then i hit a bit of traffic so as you do i leaned on the gear stick and it went bananas .. So i think its safe to say that when they fixed my speedo motor last week they didnt put the damn gear box back on properly .. So guess where im going in the morning

I really enjoy wasting my time and having no van

Well the fuel thing got better as well about an extra 50 miles to a tank which is better than nothing

But yeah i was quite pleased as i was p****d off that i found the problem

Least the place is near to my works so hopefully they can sort it out in the morning..As i need it back to go to High Wycombe on sunday night..and that is too far to be jerked about all night

As for the fuel consumption it is very possible that the pump used did not deliver what it said
My 68litre tank took 78litres one day
