Faulty door lock ? Mk5 smiley

The problem is I cannot lock the passenger door from the inside on a luton the door lever in the middle top of the door will NOT push in to lock the door from the inside/or lock it when open to slam lock it ?. It seems to be resisting some thing. The door locks/unlocks perfectly with a key Has any body come across this before.John L.

It could be just this wire slipped out of the lock assembly Take the door card off and see if it's connected as it should

If the door opens from the inside, then that cable must be intact, mustn't it?

Possibly a problem with what the cable pushes on to flip the lock May just need some lube

I think it will open if the plastic on the assembly is broken or it slid out of it's place (the one on the right on the second picture). The wire would still be connected onto the assembly at the end allowing it to open the doors, but it would be impossible to lock it with the handle. I'm just trying the simple solutions first... Before someone comes on with better answer

Nowt wrong with the answer Nada, you could well be right

Take the door catch out the lever that the bar from the door lock goes to should have a little spring on it to hold it up if not there make one out of a biro spring

Thanks for the answers lads, This will have to wait, Loading up on Monday fell over on a soapy floor and knackered my ankle. Drove from Boston to Grimsby straight to Hospital !!!. John L.
