Water (edit) pump check

Postby cravenbiker » Tue May 18, 2010 9:21 am

Hi all

2.0 dohc 1998 dual fuel

is there a way to test that my pump is working?

I have just had to fork out for a new Inlet manifold (very expensive) and i dont want to jeperdise cracking it again due to any overheating (if the pump wasnt working could this happen as the manifold has the thermo housing built into it and it is plastic) many thanks

Tristan

Edit ** - sorry this was meant to read WATER pump

Finally managed to blow head gasket after bodging my thermostat hoiusing!

Can i please give a word advice to any noobs out there (like me) - if there is a problem with any of your cooling system then PLEASE do not take the vehicle on any long runs (or short ones if you can help it) until you have sorted the problem.

Oh well, im now going to replace gasket and refit camchain , first time ive ever done anything like this so im looking forward to learning.

I finally managed to get the inlet manifold for my van (lpg conversion) that someone mentioned on another post here costing north of £600 for £200 and if i had fitted that before my trip i would have saved myself all this agro , but it wouldnt be such an adventure :o)

Deffinately getting a deisel Transit next time round but i need the van back on the road before i can make enough money to buy one :o)
