JUDDER PROBLEM

hi all i hav recently collected my van from the dealers i bought it from
where it needed the hand brake and rear brakes sorting for the mot.
now the van seems to judder some times when pulling away and almost always does it when reversing could the rear brakes be binding on????
is it hard to sort out???? has any one else had this problem????

it didnt do it on the test drive before the work was done but niether does it feel like it dragging whilst driving normally???

clutch m8 common as hell on transits, either put up with it or a new one is the only option to be honest

When I had my Mk 5 I had to have a bearing or bush replaced on the Propshaft (center bearing ?)
that sorted the judder on mine

I was advised by class VII MOT man that it was my Propshaft centre bearings causing judder, it only did it in reverse at low revs but on inspection the rubber bushes really were shagged... Spent £100 (£50 each) and a whole day at it burning old ones off and fitting new ones to find it still juddered like a washing machine with uneven load on spin cycle (I'm domesticated me ) Well you can imaginge I was Not impressed!!

Next inspected clutch plate through gearbox didn't look like there was much left on it. But after ordering new kit noticed it wasn't any better.....Didn't fancy doing it just for a laugh so I'll put up with it till clutch starts slippin

try increasing your revs slightly when reversing, only a few hundred more, that smoothed it out nicely on my tranny

cheers !!! my mates a mechanic an he said the same thing so i suppose i will live with it till i need a cluch . ive been under the van and shaked the prop to see how much play is in it and it seems ok. i thought it was me at first it felt like i was making it kangaroo like i was on "L" PLATES

hi all, my swb 2.5 deisel m registered transit judders in reverse unless i give it more revs and it whines like hell as i drive along, i tried topping the oil up in the rear diff but no effect except diff oil all over my drive from a leaky hand pump, it seems slower than my mates lwb transit same engine and year which i find strange as his is much heavier than mine...any ideas as to what my problem is with my lil ol transit?

Perceived speed differences could be wrong tire pressures...also the LWB may well have different sized tires, his pump may be set up to give more power, your engine could be shagged, you may have air in the fuel lines, you may need a new fuel filter, your injector jets may well be blocked etc etc
Try the pump mod first in the how to section. Follow the instructions carefully especially the marking of the adjuster nut.
A bottle of injector cleaner can never be a bad thing to do.
My transit juddered forwards and backwards when I got it but I changed the clutch and it is fine now.

thanks mark for the tips...the lwb high top does have much larger wheels than my swb flat top, and he has got the engine setup to deliver more power than mine, mine does match his top speed but not at the moment, as the juddering and whining i described turned out to be the UJ in the prop shaft failing, its now fully broken and the van isnt drivable but thanks to a trip to my old mate tony woodgate the vehicle breaker i now have a new prop shaft in mint condition from an ex bt van for just 30 quid will be laying under my van 2morrow removing and refitting the prop
