Got a problem with the MK5.

None of the interior lights in th back work

the plug for the switch is hanging out the dash so i jumped the 2 wires on it and guess what nothing

Checked the continuity from the swith to the lights. nothing. found a fuse in the back on the first support after the bulkhead. no power there but it is connected to the lights with a orange/black wire. the other is an orange white but it not the one at the switch

the orange white at the switch is 12v from fuse 11

What i want to know is why there is a fuse in the middle of the roof :?:

and where it should be connected to

Van is a 1999 MK5 SWB 120 ex BT

Yep the fuse is fine in the box. got power to where the switch should be

Side lights on flicked the switch on the back lights. Nothing

Being an exBT van, has it got any additional fuse panels :?:

Otherwise you'll have to start stripping :shock:

Are you jumping the correct two terminals :?:

as there's four per plug

2 big terminals on the plug.

The only other fuse i can find is the one in the back and this has one wire going off to the lights. put 12v to it they work :shock:

Have you got 12v at the front socket where the switch is missing :?:

Could this van of had a second battery that could have allowed the rear lights to stay on for long periods :?:

On the orange/white where the switch is missing i have 12v. if i pull out fuse 11 it dropps off. No sign of a second battery but it has been blown over

Just thought it cant have a second battery as the water tank is in the way

On my '96 van the twin 21watt lamp assembly in the cargo area had a very poor/no earth :roll:

The earth is the metal strip touching the bottom of the two bulbs which is missleading and caused my fuse to blow, killed the radio then had a bit of bother with it's code :roll:
