Timing pegs help but that's not all you need, if you are unsure I really wouldn't attempt it.

the pump is a piece of p1$$ to change, if you have the right tools and can use your hands.

time the engine up
rip the pump off
build it up...and recode the rim if it's a second hand pump

cant u just ripp off the pats bit and not have pats

could do, but you'd have to do some electrical system to get rid of the rest of the system. Otherwise the starter won't work
