Plastic sump guard

How many transits came with the plastic sump guard insulation? surely it makes them much quieter?

I got one out of the local transit breaker - just had to weld a couple of captive nuts on the front crossmember

I didn't really think it made it much quieter - as I say I only fitted it to keep the thieves out (or slow them down anyway) - I should think they've got more - where in the country are you?

I think they all had them, but it's the first thing to go in the bin on the first service as they are just a pain in the rear and fill up with crap.

Well im looking for one myself so i havnt got one. i saw a mk5 with one on the other day and thought it was exceptionally quiet. it seems to go all the way back to the gearbox cradle.

I have the plastic covers on the top and bottom of the bellhousing but nothing further forward.
