making a few small changes to the van..

As i'm not exactly petite..I felt the need to reposition the gearshift a little forward to clear my leg,and fit a smaller wheel,as the old one was hittin the fuel tank(mine,not the van's!!! )



The wheel was an ebay find...£20 including postage...I believe the boss is Ford Anglia..

Just the usual small groove in the boss...the spline count is the same as capri...but the boss is a good deal shorter!!
Mightn't suit everyone..but it's good for me

Talkin of changing steering wheels, we could do with a bigger one on ours cos its like steering a shed.

Scratched my head a bit thinking about that....thought about heating the metal to bend it a bit(it's just in the wrong place in 5th gear..hoppin off my knee)
in the end i opened the two bolts at the bottom,and rebolted it from the front..now it sits a couple of inches closer to the dash...and clears my leg!! Problem solved!

New shock tops at the front asap,and a respray and rust removal as soon as funds allow!

Been driving around with the new wheel fitted....getting fully fed up of hitting off the wiper switch...so out with the heat-gun.....

An escort indicater and light switch fits in the Transit and they are smaller and may look better with a small steering wheel. Got one in my Mk3 due the unavailability of a Transit one.

I'll look at that..the promlem is more that i used a very short boss,rather than that I used a small wheel.If the escort ones are straighter,I may still use them....Off to the scrappie I go!
