Propshaft Bearing / Gearbox

Postby Transitwalla » Sun Sep 03, 2006 4:23 pm

When decelerating there's a whistle from either the propshaft bearing or the gearbox I'm not sure which. Anyone have any experience of this type of problem? if so how was it solved?

SWB 120 with 2.5Di and MT75 gearbox.....

Originally thought it was the exhaust [old and holed] but can discount that? as its just been changed.....

Only happens when decelerating . . . only.

I have heard the exhausts on these whistle - usually the LWB models with the banana up the front - did that help - thought not :D

You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

So the consensus of opinion is . . UJ related :( I have a spare propshaft off the '95 Tranny that can be adapted to fit :) just need to mount the center bearing holder to the chassis somehow. Alas, not the 30 minute fix I was after :(

As ever peeps . . thanks. . .

Just so I can sleep tonight  anyone have any theories as to how it happens? only on deceleration !!!!!

Fred, he must have edited that as he did originally say try the exhaust but then must have realised what he was saying!

I can tackle most any job vehicle related and some that aren't. I have a reasonable selection of tools . . and the Father in Law has his own garage business . . . Cincinatti miller and a small lathe included. . . .

If we cant do it between us then we know someone that can . . . cheap :)
