ESOS - can't source replacement

Postby pat the bus » Tue Jul 05, 2011 11:32 pm

Hi everyone. Back in February you helped us with the problem of the engine on our P-reg 2.5 running on - didn't realise that an electronic fuel pump has an ESOS. We couldn't then find a source for a replacement but taking the ESOS off and then replacing it sorted out the problem. It's just started running on again and although we've found that we don't have to stall it to fool the engine management (if you turn the key off 1 click then back on 1 click - so that dash lights come up but starter not engaged - engine will stop and you then turn key fully off, restarts fine and engine not in limp mode) we would like to get it properly sorted. However we've had no luck getting hold of the component on its own and we're being pushed towards replacing the complete fuel pump. Is it possible to get hold of a replacement ESOS? Can we continue as we're doing or is the pump going to fail on us? (I'm a bit nervous about that happening as we had a pump failure a few years back on one of our other buses, it happened on the M25 and although the driver got it onto the hard shoulder it was a bit dramatic with the fire service having to come and wash the fuel away).
Help much appreciated.

I'm sure a Lucas diesel agent will be able to supply the parts.

Has the ESOS completely failed or just the seals inside? You can buy a seal kit for about £15

Any half decent diesel shop should be able to get you the part :!:
