To switch off the service light in your MK6 or MK7 Transit:

1. Service it
2. Switch on ignition but don't start engine
3. Press Down Brake pedal and Throttle pedal fully, and hold till service light flashes this may take up to a minute, but usually about 15 seconds
4. Switch off igniton

Job Done

On a MK 7 the service light is a picture of a Spanner

On a MK 6 the service light is a picture of a Spanner and an oil can
This worked perfectly for me and my mk6. Thanks for your help

Wait 2 mins before turning ign back on. That's a good tip! Never knew that.

If it is a 140Ps or 200ps they have oil quality sensors, it may well need an oil service

Oh right yeah. i get the message that the reset is complete yes.
Is the only reason this warning comes on to signal that its time for a service?...or are there other reasons i should be worried about?

no thats basically it, the pcm goes on drive cycles and milage to work out when the oil needs replacing, on the 140 and 200 ps it also has a oil sensor which measures oil polution

Okay,cheers for that info taz.
The van cam with full service history and the last service it had was in June this year so im assuming the oil was changed then.
Do i need to take the van in and get someone to switch the warning light off by some other means?
