Basically a wet belt is like a cambelt but it runs in oil

Yes the latest connect has now gone to a wet belt instead of the chain on the lynx engine.

Does that mean because it has a chain it wont snap or could they still snap because i know if the belt snapps it can reck your engine?

A chain can snap, but it's unlikely, unless you ignore the loud clattering noise that it will probably make for a long time before that happens.

A belt doesn't usually give any warning!

My chain jumped a cog or two then pulled out Rocker gear hold down bolts. No warning just stopped....

am I right in thinking the chain needs replacing at certain intervals ? I'm sure I read it somewhere . It's just that I'm looking for a van at the moment & most adverts here are saying 'chain, no maintenance needed'. makes me wonder about the fsh.lol

According to the information at the start of this thread, all MK7 have chains.
