It's Can Bus so I'd guess it's controlled by the BCM and yes it can be expanded to put a microwave sensor in the back.

I can now confirm that the alarm off is done by the remote, not the door lock.

After reading the latest 'my van's been broken into' thread, I did a bit of playing. The alarm sounds as soon as the central locking is activated by a key in the lock. No delay, no warning beeps, just a lot of noise

Same as the Viper system fitted to my Mk6,Also connected to sensors in the front and rear as well as the doors, has a remote that alerts you at a fair distance away too.Wasn`t cheap though but good things are`nt.

Mike, I'm guessing you had this fitted from new? I asked for one but was told that I couldn't have it because I have dual side loading doors with opening windows, so had to make do with the standard alarm, I wouldn't mind getting something like this retro fitted although being as I've got it all lined including the roof it will be a f*ckin nightmare to run any wires.

Sort of, I fitted it a few weeks after the van arrived. I'm not sure why the side doors affect it? It's canbus based so the only wires that need running are to the siren under the bonnet, all the other wires are into the hidden fuse box and the tilt sensor mounts next to it.

I'll have a word with the tech guy at the dealers about compatability, as it was the salesman who told me it couldn't be done, mind you thinking about it that was the back end of 2011 when the van was still on the waiting list to be built! In fact he showed me on the computer that it wasn't possible with certain combinations.

Exactly, the previous cat 1 alarm (as at the time I placed my order) probably wasn't compatible, shame I hadn't seen this thread when you first posted it

Was it bought from Ford? I've read on here that the set up is different to the "stock" 4405 from Cobra. Can anyone comment before I shell out on one?

It has a bespoke wiring loom and instructions for the Mk7.
