Evening all, i have new speedo with hill start assist, i have abs and esp, I'm wondering what else i need to activate hsa? Do i need a tilt sensor? I see in config there is' tilt sensor if cat 1 alarm' it then occurred to me, would that be needed for hsa too?
How does hsa work?

hsa keeps the brakes on for a couple of seconds when it senses that your on a steep enough hill.
It does depend on what your doing with the brake and clutch as to whether it activates.
I assume it uses the abs valves to keep the brakes on.
Do you have the yaw rate sensor for stability assist, it is fitted to the left of the bcm on the front bulkhead. It has a four pin connector.

Edit:
You can turn the system on or off by turning on the ignition and holding all three pedals down for 8 seconds, the dash indicator flashes to confirm the change. Don't hold the pedals too long or the service counter resets

I have yaw sensor, for some reason i thought it was just a horizontal gyro but if it is full giro then that makes sense
Will i have hill assist in config?

If you have the yaw sensor then you've got stability assist so it is probably just a config option to get hsa as well.

If you had traction control then you would not have the yaw sensor or the steering angle sensor.

Well i installed the software which i thought would activate hsa but i couldn't see it in config, didn't check to hard tho tbh as i was in config for another reason, on the way home i thought if stop on a hill but before that i stopped by the side of the road and tried the 3 pedal trick but nothing happened twice so i swore and went home
I can't find anything in the wiring diagrams for a tilt sensor so I'm happy that it uses the yaw sensor or something.

Is it listed under the menu's on instrument cluster

When I fitted ABS/ESP with HSA (Hill start assist) on my Last Transit Connect project. You could turn it on or off via vehicle settings menu on instrument cluster.
Although it was nowhere to be found on IDS. Apart from having to configure all sensors before it would work.





All that was require on connects was instrument cluster, ABS/ESP pump & Yaw/Rate sensor.

Could it be the same for Transit Mk7

I only remember seeing calibrate steering senator but I'll have a look tomorrow, i don't think there is a menu item I'm sure I've been through them all.
Recently looked at some stuff you could activate in focus/possibly the connect using a modified elm327, flat tyre warning for eg which is based on a flat tyre affecting the rolling radius on the abs sensor, think we need valve sensors etc on ours

That was the only good news tho
Went into it and it came up test failed
I have no clues as to what i need etc.
Nothing in wiring diagrams.
I haven't installed any calibration data for it but nothing shows up relating to hsa that I've ever seen in config.
I have abs/esp/steering angle sensor/yaw sensor fitted.
Can i find out if i need a higher spec abs pump?
I'm going to install software from a van that i know has hsa and see what happens.
Apart from that I'll check the fuses and relays to see if any are for hsa?

Hill assist also turns off when it detects the engine under strain , so you trying to pull off.

Not sure how it detects this, but you'll need it.

Just so you know too,

Foot on clutch and brake while in gear will activate hiss asist, as long as your on a slop. It dint have to be a big hill.

OK so in your normal driving conditions do you see the little lamp on the clocks when you go to junctions etc? Only time I've ever seen mine is when i pot the key in the ignition, I've never sewn it or felt it in the time I've had these clocks fitted
I did the 3 pedals and ignition to activate it but the lamp didn't flash, and today i got a fail to activate it in ids, I'm running out of ideas lol
