Clutch fluid?

It's possible that it's brake fluid from the clutch slave cyclinder, which also probably means your clutch hasn't gone.

it is clutch fluid but the dmf has been rattling round for a while now then last week the clutch started to judder when i pulled away and made a sqeaking noise,so i took it to mr clutch who said it was clutch and flywheel on its last legs.

I know that the piston can pop out the slave cyclinder if it comes off the clutch fork which is probably what has happened.

gearbox out - new concentric slave cylinder - also new clutch and flywheel (if it's a dual mass job anyway) should go in as well - false economy not to

good luck

Thats right if it's a front wheel drive.
Rear wheel drive slave cylinders are external items and can be replaced in under an hour.

I really don't hold with the fit a flywheel everytime suggestions, there are set diagnostic checks that can be performed and if it passes those, it can go back and enjoy the rest of it's life.

Are you sure the dmf is rattling or is it transmission rattle?

incorrect countershaft preloading can bring on a rattle through the transmission at idle.

DMF's usually give a deep vibration through the vehicle.

I just assumed it's FWD because mine is :D the reason I say change the DMF is because they're so weak on VW's etc and I see them fail a lot

do you not change them as a "belt and braces" approach at the agents then?

FMC warranty policy and the prior approval process most dealers are bound to dictates that only correctly identified defective parts are repalced and that the vehicle is not over repaired.

Yes, some customers will request that they have a DMF fitted, but at around £250 +vat and and extra .6 hour labour it's not many.
