wiring up a second battery on my mk6

hi all

i use my van for window cleaning and need to run two pumps in the rear of the van , only problem is i have tried to wire up a second battery using a split charge relay, but firstly it melted the fuse and now the relay..

has anyone got any idea how to wire these up ?

the problem is that is how mine is wired up but the problem i have is that the split charge relay is burning and melting for some reason anyone know what causes this?

too many amps :wink:


thats right - the relay is for charging the battery only and can't take a load through it - I take it your running your consumers off the slave with the engine running

i was running the engine but wasnt running the two pumps , was just checking the voltage was going through it..

what split charge relay are you using? maybe it's not heavy enough
